The community of Eastend has welcomed a vintage train, which includes 4 engines and 20 train cars so far.

The trains belong to Gary Southgate, a farmer from the Battleford area, who bought land next to the railway tracks in Eastend and has a goal of offering scenic train tours around the area.

There is work that needs to happen first though , as Tourism and Economic Development Officer, Rosa Vazquez - Ring explains

"Now that the trains are here, the next step will be to get the cars ready for the tour. Working on the permits and making sure that they follow the regulations. He's working on the area of town where he bought the land. So, you know, it's little by little."

They are also hoping to have tours of the train cars, once some work on them is complete

The goal at this time is to hopefully have at least a couple tours available this summer.
