The T-Rex Discovery Centre in Eastend opens for the season this weekend.

"Saturday is our opening day, we'll be open every day after that from 10 am to 6 pm until the September long weekend. Saturday we're having a free hot dog BBQ and some other activites and the Windscape Kite Festival people are going to be out here as well," said Daralyn Fauser, program supervisor at the Centre.

The Centre is one of the southwest's biggest tourist attractions, thanks to Scotty the T-Rex.

"As of last year we have the full Scotty T-rex skeleton that was found in this area, as well as other dinosaur fossils and fossils, so a whole bunch of gallery spaces and we other public programs we are running all summer," said Fauser.

In 1991, a large vertebra was found near Eastend, one of the largest and most intact skeletons in the world.

The T-rex Discovery Centre is a centre of excellence for scientific research and education as well as a leading tourist attraction for the province of Saskatchewan.
