Shaw, Walter Joseph Ross age 99 of Cabri Saskatchewan, passed away on January 18, 2023 at the Prairie Health Care Centre in Cabri. Ross is survived by wife, Lavon, sons Larald (Cindy) and Perry. Grandchildren Brandy Mogg (Chad), and great -grandchildren Ava, Brooklyn and Hudson. Step grandchildren; Travis Hart (Kimberly), great grandchildren Adalynn and Norah Hart. Extended family; Bonnie Shaw and Lauris Thinglestad. Ross is predeceased by parents Joseph (1964) and Florence (1976), daughter in-law Arlene Imrie (2014), father in-law Lars Tonsaker (1982) and mother in-law Martha Tonsaker (1985). Ross was born on December 1, 1923 in Cabri, and attended school at Sandford Dene School and high school in Cabri. On August 19, 1953 he married Lavon Tonsaker. After finishing a short course in agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan, he began farming with his Dad. In 1948 he bought his first half of land. He continued farming with his sons until 2008, before moving to Cabri. In 1974 Larald and Ross purchased and restored a 1937 Plymouth Coupe, which was the beginning of his collection of antique cars. Ross and Lavon joined the Swift Current Antique Car Club and spent many summers during the 70's, 80's, and 90's touring Saskatchewan and Alberta. His other passions were wood working and gardening. Ross and Lavon travelled with Perry to Goderich, Ontario, to see the homestead of his father (Joe) and to Florence's home, where she was raised. This was the trip of a lifetime to see where his parents were born and raised. When people asked Ross "what his secret to a long life was?" He answered “Cod liver oil and never sitting idle."
