Picture Butte Golf Course outside of Lethbridge has already been open for over a week.

General Mager of Swift Current's Elmwood Golf & Country Club, Sheldon Reinhart.

We're definitely hoping that we can get out a little bit earlier than what we have in the past but you know there's still that chance that we could get March and April cold weather but we're hoping, that because of the good weather, that we're going to get off to an early start.”

He says they're looking for specific temperatures.

We definitely have to have the lows not going into the minus' too far, and if the golf course can hold up and get all the snow melted and get some high's, even in that ten range cionsistantly, then the golf course is ready to get opened.”

Reinhart says the greens will not be the determining factor as the tarps that are draped over the greens for the winter elevate the temperature by about seven degrees.
