Swift Current was finally hit was some consistent rainfall, it just so happened to come while the City was hosting Frontier Day's and Canada Day celebrations.

It rained Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, but according to Terri Lang, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, the showers were a bit deceiving.

"There was some good shower and thundershower activity well over the weekend on and off, but it actually didn't add up to all that much," she said. "Airport came in with just under 14 millimetres and one of our volunteers observes came in with 15.5 millimetres, so all of that rain didn't add up to that much."

The highest totals of rainfall were on Saturday with Environment Canada recording 4.7 millimetres at the airport and the volunteer station based on the south side of Swift Current recording 7.1 millimetres.

"I think people think when it rains heavy 'that must have been so much rain', but not necessarily," Lang said. "It takes a lot to add up to a bunch of rain."

Weather models for the summertime are showing below average precipitation for Swift Current but warm temperatures.
