Wickenheiser Is In The Game

So by now the news of Hayley Wickenheiser making it into NHL 13 as a playable legend is out. It's pretty impressive to see this happen as sports games don't normal make major changes. Each year a new version comes out with only minor changes and a new soundtrack that's changed quite a bit in the last several years. It really started back with the release of NHL 11 when they added the CHL which included our Swift Current Broncos. At the time this was a major addition, no longer would we have to go through the process of creating our home town team. Next of course came NHL 12 where, thanks to a little girl who wrote in to EA Sports and asked if a girl could be added in, included women in the create-a-character mode for the first time and take her through the Be-A-Pro Mode.

 Now EA Sports is taking it a step further by adding Team Canada Captain and Shaunavon native Hayley Wickenheiser and fellow Olympian and Team USA member Angela Ruggiero. The two women are actually quite ingrained with in the game it self. They actually represent the Legends teams as Captains. The other players that show up as Legends in the game include NHL Hall of Famers Doug Gilmour, Jari Kurri, and NHL legend Dominik Hasek who now join likes of Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.

So where in the game will Wickenheiser be useable:

 Be A Legend – gamers will experience the glory of playing their entire Be A Pro career as a legend as they attempt to shatter the most impressive records in hockey, achieve legendary milestones and complete legends tasks.

Legends teams – Play as the legends team, Team Ruggiero or Team Wickenheiser, which are comprised of legends and current NHL greats in head-to-head play – within Play Now, Online and Battle for the Cup modes. Players on Team Ruggiero and Team Wickenheiser were selected by each athlete, respectively.

Hockey Ultimate Team & Be a GM – Gamers will have the ability to add legends to any team roster in Be a GM mode, or collect ultra-rare legends cards and use them within their Hockey Ultimate Team experience.

Other additions include "Team White" and "Team Red" from the 2012 CHL Top Prospects Game and the 2012 Winter Classic.
