The Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats fell 2-1 to the Battlefords Sharks on the road Saturday in the opening game of their SFU18AAAHL playoff series.

The Sharks opened the scoring in the second period with goals from Anneka Aspaas and Grier Slabadia. Evangeline Hill got the Wildcats on the board shorthanded with 14:23 left in the third period, but the Wildcats' comeback would fall short.

Paige Fischer made 19 saves as Swift Current outshot the Sharks 27-21.

The Wildcats trail the best-of-three series 1-0 and will play a must-win game two tonight at 6:30 p.m. from S3 Arenas. Game three, if needed, will be in Battleford on Wednesday.
