Trying to avoid falling behind 2-0 to the league’s top team, the Diamond Energy Female Midget ‘AAA’ Wildcats return home Wednesday night to resume their semi-final series.

The Wildcats will welcome the Saskatoon Stars to the Fairview Arenas Wednesday night looking to get back on even ground, following a 5-2 loss to the Stars in game one.

Swift Current managed to hang around with Saskatoon for majority of their game one contest.

Down 2-0 after the opening period, the Wildcats trimmed the deficit to 3-2 after two, while outshooting the Stars 11-5 in the middle frame.

For the Wildcats, they will be looking to avoid the penalty box in the second game of the best of five series.

Swift Current surrendered two power-play goals in the series opening loss, both of which were very influential goals.

The first of the two came late in the first period to extend Saskatoon’s lead to 2-0, while the second power-play goal wound up being the insurance goal midway through he third.

Wednesday night’s game two from Fairview West will get underway at 8:00pm.

Game three of the series will shift back to Saskatoon on Saturday.
