Kyle's Chloe Wills captured the Saskatchewan Junior Women's Under-17 Championship this afternoon at the Chinook Golf Course.

The Saskatchewan Landing Golf Resort representative shot a final round 83 on the third day of competition finishing at +28 to cruise to a 14-stroke win over Elmwood Golf Club's Niya Friesen.

"It was [some] pretty good rounds overall," she said. "There were a few rough holes, but I made up for them. I'm pretty happy with it.

"It means a lot to be winning at home."

Wills, who just finished grade ten, shot a 78 yesterday and opened play on Tuesday with an 84.

"Just a lot more consistent, not as many rough holes, and more pure shots," she said was the key to her best round.

She started golfing at the age of five with guidance from her dad and began competing in tournaments around 11 or 12 years old. And now has her eyes on pursuing the sport even further.

"I'd like to look into post-secondary options and have some opportunities in that hopefully," she said.

Wills placed third overall for the Saskatchewan Junior Women's Championship, 26-shots back of Sarah Armstrong the winner.
