So far 129 claims from residents within Swift Current have been filed following last Tuesday's windstorm.

Although this isn't the most claims SGI has received from one storm in the past couple years, Tyler McMurchy, manager of media relations, did say the storm left its mark.

"This was a very significant wind event that affected quite a few people across Saskatchewan including in Swift Current," he said.

SGI is reporting over 2,500 claims throughout the province have been filed to date, with more continuing to be sent in.

McMurchy said the claims they've seen so far equate to about a 72 per cent (1,800) being property damage and the other 28 per cent (700) being auto claims.

"You are seeing shingles ripped off roofs, or fences blown down, and tree branches falling out of trees and hitting things," he said. "That's the kind of damage we're seeing from the significant wind event we saw last week."

The largest amount of claims they received from a storm this year was on June 2, as a hail storm swept across the City of Saskatoon and surrounding area, resulting in 8,000 claims.

He also recommends claimants to first contact their broker who sold them their policy, in order to make sure it's in the claimants' best interests to file.
