Two local roller derby teams skated circles around their opponents resulting in a winning weekend for both.

The Ra Ra Riots, junior team took on the Bridge City Bruiser's from Saskatoon this past weekend at the Innovationplex as part of their season and home opener.

Ella Toles a member of the Redneck Betties senior roller derby team shares the results from the junior game.

"The kids did so good. So, the final score was our Ra Ra's won with 306 points to 192 points for the Bridge City Bruiser's."

Following that the Betties took to the track against Brandon's Scarlett Fever and skated themselves to a 223 to 108 win.

Toles says it was a great weekend.

"I think everyone on both sides were really happy. The officials, it was really a good seamless weekend. Our next one is May 27th."

Following their next home game at the end of May they will also have home games on June 24th and September 9th.

Both teams are continually looking for new members regardless of experience and anyone interested is welcome to reach out through the Redneck Betties Facebook page.
