The fastest game on two feet returns to Swift Current in a big way this weekend.

The Swift Current Rampage minor lacrosse teams will host a tournament throughout the weekend with the U13, U15 and U17 teams welcoming squads from Moose Jaw and Lloydminster. Games start at 6:00pm tonight and continue through Sunday at S3 Arenas.

In the middle of all the action, the Swift Current Wolverines will start off the 2023 Prairie Gold Junior Lacrosse League campaign with a home game against the Regina Barracudas on Saturday night.

“We’ve got a great group of guys that have been coming out from Swift Current and from a variety of comminuties, and one thing they really do appreciate is the fan support,” said Wolverine head coach Steve Michaluk. “We have the best support in the league and we certainly hope that continues this year.

“We said goodbye to a few of the veteran players, some of them have stuck around but others have gone on to work and lives outside of Swift Current, but we’ve got some rookies coming up, so there’s a few guys debuting for the Wolverines this weekend, and we still have a few guys away at college that we expect back in May,” Michaluk added. “Every game, we’re going to be in a battle, so we got to come ready to play every night. We got Regina coming to town... they’re going to be solid, so we’re going to have to be ready, and I know the guys are already talking about the energy that will be in the building. That certainly gives them a boost and we invite everyone out on Saturday.”

The Wolverines game starts at 8:00pm on Saturday from S3 West Arena and admission is $5.00 for adults with kids 12 and under getting in free.
