arnal memorial

Tragedy struck the Arnal family of Ravenscrag a second time in 2014, when two of their young sons, Sean and Lyndon, died in a tractor accident on their farm in the summer.

Another son, Blake Arnal, was killed in an ATV accident six years earlier.

In the fall, the family established the Arnal Boys Memorial Bursary for Young Farmers, which helps children ages 8 to 18 who have an interest in pursuing post-secondary education in Agriculture, or want to fund an agriculture-related project.

The bursary received overwhelming support through a number of fundraisers, including the sale of three bred heifers at Heartland Livestock Services in Swift Current in December. The sale of the heifers brought in over $35,000, and a number of other fundraisers that day brought the total amount raised for the bursary closer to $48,000.

The Arnal family is also hoping to organize other events to raise more funds for the bursary and carry on the boys' legacy in the new year.
