In November, Swift Current learned they would be welcoming the world once again, as the city was named the hosts for the 2016 Ford World Women's Curling Championship in an announcement by the Canadian Curling Association and World Curling Federation.

Swift Current sucessfully hosted the event once before in 2010, where 52,000 fans attended over the 10 days, and hundreds of volunteers helped out in some capacity.

"For me, what's the most gratifying about this, is it's a real testament to the volunteers, organizers and sponsors that did an amazing job in 2010," said Swift Current Mayor Jerrod Schafer. "It's back here because it was a great event then and I think it will be a better event in 2016."

The 2016 Worlds is scheduled for March 19th to 27th, 2016 at the Credit Union iplex. Ticket and volunteer information is expected to be released by the CCA sometime in the new year.
