It's the last weekend of summer holidays, and there are lots of things you can do with your family in the southwest this weekend.

SPCA Radiothon

John Mueller Memorial Radiothon

The ninth annual John Mueller for the Swift Current SPCA will be live on The Eagle 94.1 FM from Market Square on Saturday, raising important funds to help keep the animal shelter operational. Staff from the SPCA will be on hand with shelter animals that can be adopted, and they will be taking radiothon donations on site.

When: Saturday, August 27 from 9:00am to 4:00pm

Where: Market Square and on the Eagle 94.1 FM

Stock car racing

Stock car racing under the lights

The Swift Current Stock Car Association will be back on track this weekend with two nights of racing under the lights. The first 50 kids aged 17 and under will get into Friday's races for free thanks to Pioneer Co-op.

When: Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27 at 7:00pm

Where: Kinetic Exhibition Park

Cost: $10 for ages 15 and older, $5.00 for youth 6-14, kids 5 and under are free

The Lyric Theatre will host another Open Stage night on Friday hosted by Tombstone Whiskey and featuring a great lineup of local talent.

When: Friday, August 26 at 7:00pm

Where: The Lyric Theatre (227 Central Ave N)

Cost: $7.00 at the door, performers get in free
