Local couple helps find missing man over Thanksgiving weekend
A Swift Current couple helped identify a missing person in Alberta on their way home over the Thanksgiving weekend. Joe and Jennifer Muntz were returning from Calgary when they encountered a vehicle swerving across the Trans-Canada Highway between Tilley and Ralston. "We found this car in front of us that was obviously trying to stay in the right lane," said Jennifer. "He was all over the road, and he was driving completely on the right shoulder and sometimes completely in the left lane, but still trying to stay in the right lane." Once they managed to pass the 2008 Chevrolet Impala, they noticed the driver was an older man. "He kept going and looking in the rear-view mirror; he was still all over the place," said Jennifer. "So we decided to slow down and get behind him and get the licence plate and call it in because somebody was going to get hurt." RCMP were able to dispatch an officer to check on the vehicle, at which point they identified the driver as 81-year-old Robbin Pilgrim. Pilgrim had been reported missing in Innisfail only a day earlier. He had reportedly told people he was going to be travelling to Brooks before he was reported missing. Pilgrim had pulled over on the side of the road by the time officers found him. Muntz said she’s glad they could help ensure Pilgrim was located.
