Growing up in a musical family it is no surprise that Samara Yung became a musician. From a young age she would sing with her father's band but it wasnt until she won a country music talent competititon in 2005 that she would find the path which has lead her to where she is today.
"Highlights" is Samara's new single off her "Steamroller" album which was released last year. Samara says this single is her most personal song to date and the first song she wrote after the birth of her daughter.
When writting songs, Samara says she usually writes from an outsiders perspective. She adds that writting is a very personal experience and when you put a song out there you are opening yourself up to people judging it so for her "Highlights" was a step out of her comfort zone.
Her album "Steamroller" was released last year and has been doing very well. This album imparticular is very special to Samara as she worked on it while pregnant and after the birth of her daughter.
In terms of what we can expect from Samara in the future she says she is already in the process of trying to build a new album and continually strives to improve her music, and force herself to step out of her comfort zone.
