Justine Sletten calls Hazlet home and is one of our Made in Saskatchewan artists that we feature on country music radio daily.

Justine has already won a handful of awards to begin her young singing career. In 2015 Justine was awarded the Royal Conservatory Gold Medal for achieving the highest mark in the province in her vocal examination. In the same year she also won a few awards and scholarships including most promising vocalist.

In 2016 she was selected among 8 other contestants to be on a coaching program ran by Tamara Beatty, who is also a voice coach on the TV show "The Voice." Also in 2016 Justine won the Saskatoon Country Music Assiociation youth star seach competition. Her first EP is called "Groundbreaking".

I had a chance to speak to Justine about her songs, and she said that a lot of her songs are written about heart felt moments that contain a lot of emotion in them. Growing up her idols that she has looked up to has been Tenille Arts, and Shania Twain and Taylor Swift.

Justine is also in the middle of a competition called CBC searchlight, which reqires people to vote for her to win this contest, and she says you can vote for her by going online to CBC searchlights and search for Justine Sletten and clicking vote.
