This weeks eagle applause for Schultz's Ranch Country Meats in Morse goes to Tim Marcus, Greg Parsons, and the City of Swift Current Water Department for stepping up for their neighbors in the village of Waldeck.
The nomination was submitted by Waldeck Mayor Glenn Alexander who said: "Very early on the extremely cold Monday Feb. 11 the Village of Waldeck experienced a water main break. This resulted in water being shut off for many of our residents and Waldeck Elementary and Junior High School, causing classes to be cancelled.
Council members, community members, and contractors, all pulled together to fix the issue in very challenging weather and worked extremely all hard. Despite their best efforts, the problem was still unresolved by the following day.
Greg Parsons, director of engineering services and operations for the City of Swift Current, was on the phone consulting with the team on the ground in Waldeck, generously making available his time and expertise.
Conversations were also taking place between Mayor Denis Perrault and Mayor Glenn Alexander, and in consultation with Tim Marcus, the city offered the support of city crews to visit on site.
This help, in the spirit of community, was instrumental in an early return of water for the school on Tuesday and confirmation the hard-working team on the ground in Waldeck was doing all that could be done to repair the break.
The break was fully repaired and all services restored late Tuesday afternoon.
At each step of the way Tim and Greg refused thanks and reiterated the city is always willing to help nearby neighbours when they can. This exemplifies for me the spirit behind the Eagle Applause and knowing Denis so I respectfully nominate Greg Parsons and Tim Marcus for the Eagle Applause.
Thank you Tim, Greg, and city crews for helping the people in Waldeck. They'll get gift cards from Schultz's Ranch Country Meats...The Taste of Tradition From The Heart of Ranch Country.
