Andy, Shelby, and Jeff stopped by the Eagle morning show Tuesday to tell us about Remembrance Day events and ceremonies in Swift Current this weekend.
Starting at 10:00pm Friday evening, November 10 Cadets of the 605 Tarry Squadron will begin their 12 hour cenotaph guard at Memorial Park, which will go all night and shift change every 15 minutes.
For Saturday, November 11 (Remembrance Day) at 9:00am the colour party and parade will assemble outside the Legion and march to the cenotpah for a ceremony and laying of wreaths, and a few words from Mayor Denis Perrault. Ceremonies open to the public at the Comp High School will begin at 10:45am with a minute of silence at 11:00am sharp. That will be followed by a luncheon at 2:00pm at the Legion that is open to the public where Tiger Williams will be the guest speaker and also display his red cross collection.
The day will wind up with a 40s themed costume party and concert featuring Rosie & The Riveters Saturday night at the Legion. There will also be a raffle and silent auction.
Tickets for the Saturday evening concert are available at Pharmasave, A & M Delivery, and at the Legion Office. The cut off for tickets to the luncheon is today (Tuesday) and can also be purchased at the Legion office.
