With first place already clinched for the Swift Current 57's, the final game of the regular season proved to be a tune up against their eventual round one opponent in the WMBL playoffs.

A 14-9 win for the 57's had a shaky start, as the Moose Jaw Miller Express jumped out to an 8-4 lead, thanks in part to a five-run 4th inning. The lead didn't last long for the Miller Express as Swift bounced back with a three-run 6th inning, and seven-run 7th.

All nine 57's batters reached base in the contest, with five players cruising to a multi-hit game.

As well, Blake Adams homered, bringing his season total to 12 - a Swift Current 57's regular season record.

The production didn't stop there for Adams, who continued his RBI barrage. Four in the game pushed the Longview, TX native's regular season total to 54. Not to be outdone in the regular season finale, Nick Canas and Matt Bondarchuk racked up three RBI each.

Another positive for head coach Joe Carnahan ahead of the playoffs was the quality relief shown by the bullpen. The pen was called on early, and shut down the Miller Express' momentum almost entirely.

Trey Taylor entered the game with one out in the 4th inning in relief of starter Will Blanchard, and the 57's fortunes immediately turned around. Taylor tossed two and two-thirds innings of scoreless ball, giving up just two hits over his outing on the mound - he was later credited with the win after Aidan Goodall and Cole Thibideau combined for one run over three innings.

With their sights still set on the Miller Express, Swift Current has the day off today, before hosting Moose Jaw on Tuesday night at Mitchell Field at 7:05 p.m.

Also matched up in the WMBL quarter finals starting on Tuesday, the Regina Red Sox travel to Weyburn to take on the Beavers, the Lethbridge Bulls host the Medicine Hat Mavericks, and the league-leading Okotoks Dawgs host the Edmonton Prospects.
