The Swift Current 57's couldn't string together a second-straight win last night, falling on the road to the Regina Red Sox.

After smacking Moose Jaw 12-2 on Sunday, the 57's dropped their Monday night contest 9-4 to the Red Sox in the provincial capital.

It was a game of missed opportunity for the 57's, as they put up 14 hits compared to the Red Sox's 12, but stranded 11 base-runners in the loss.

Swift's bats were finding the baseball up and down the lineup, from a two-hit night by lead-off man Blake Adams, down to the same effort by nine-hole hitter Anthony Stewart.

Myles Miller also added three batting clean-up, while their three RBI came from Ruben Rodriguez, Ben Komonosky, and Mitch Dean.

Komonosky ended up driving himself in for his 25th RBI of 2018. A solo home run marked his tenth of the season.

But, a 3-1/3 inning start by Jacob Kampen had fives nearly across the board. He allowed four hits, five runs, five walks, and struck out five to get charged with the loss.

The 57's have now gone back-and-forth in the standings after their previous nine-game win streak.

Swift dropped from a half-game ahead of the Red Sox and in second place in the WMBL's Eastern Division, to a half-game behind Regina and in third place.

With five games remaining, Swift will need to leap ahead of the Red Sox to secure home-field advantage in their nearly-secured playoff series.

The 57's have the day off today, before heading out on the road for a two-game set against the Melville Millionaires Wednesday and Thursday.
