After hoisting back-to-back league titles, the Swift Current 57's welcomed the rest of the WMBL to the city this past weekend for the league's annual meeting.

No major rule changes were made during the two-day meeting, as most of the talk focused on franchises and the current stability of the league.

Mike Mutlow, Swift Current 57's president, said he was pleased with the meeting and the direction the league is heading.

"I think it went well," he said. "It's a long day and a half, but we discussed everything from franchises to new franchises, how do we move forward, and looking at the future of the league."

No new teams have been confirmed as of yet, but Mutlow noted some names have been bounced around. He also said the league wants to make sure it is stable before expanding.

"It's just feelers at this point and nothing I can release at all that way," he said.

Swift Current was chosen to host the event this year as the annual meeting rotates throughout cities that have teams.

"It kind of fell into place and kind of nice (to host this year)," Mutlow said. "You're sitting at the table as a champion, you do get the odd acknowledgement and the odd poke at you. Everybody is gunning for you, so it's kind of fun to be sitting there like that."

The 48-game league schedule is slated to be released on December 15.
