Despite trailing 7-1 midway through the game, the Swift Current 57's still found a way to win their third straight game Wednesday night at Mitchell Field.

The 57's used an eight run 6th inning to help propel them to a 14-7 victory over the Brooks Bombers, their second in as many nights.

"Those are always the fun (games) to win," said 57's Assistant Coach Taylor Steen. "You get down early and just try to fight back. You always have a couple of them over the summer and it was good to see us come out on top."

After bus problems for the visitors led to a half hour delay to start the game, the Swift Current bats took even longer to get rolling.

Brooks' starting pitcher Owen Steele retired the 57's in order the first time through the line-up, allowing the Bombers to jump out in front.

The Bombers scored one run in the 2nd and added three more in the 4th to go up 4-0.

"One through nine, we were all struggling in the beginning," said 57's infielder/pitcher Keil Krumwiede. "Our team, we just have the ability to comeback and bounce back. We wind up getting 14 runs and it's huge to be able to come back and get that win."

Riley Campbell hit his first home-run of the season in the bottom of the 4th, but Brooks cashed in three right after to lead 7-1 heading to the bottom of the 5th.

That is when Krumwiede did his best to ignite the turn-around.

The Glasgow, Montana native sent a 1-0 pitch over the fence, a two-run shot to trim the deficit to 7-3.

"I was just sitting fastball and making sure I was seeing the ball well," Krumwiede said regarding his fourth home-run of the season. "I always sit fastball, adjust to the off-speed and I was just glad to get a hold of one."

While Krumwiede's shot put the 57's back in striking distance, it was the next inning when the bats really exploded.

Swift Current used five singles, a hit by pitch and a walk to take an 8-7 lead in the bottom of the 6th, before Blake Adams put the exclamation point on the inning with a three-run jack.

His seventh longball of the season extended the Swift Current lead to 11-7 and they wouldn't look back.

"We just stick with our approach," said Steen. "We make sure that we don't take any pitch or at-bat for granted. This team is really good when we stick with our approach at the plate."

The 57's added three more runs in the bottom of the 8th to put the game out of reach.

Swift Current pitcher Jagger Harjo did not factor in the decision, going four innings allowing four runs on six hits and four walks.

Will Blanchard wound up getting the win on the mound after delivering a scoreless 6th inning.

Krumwiede went on to pitch a scoreless 9th inning to wrap-up the victory.

Of note in the game, Adams pulled withing 5 RBI of the 57's franchise record with his 6th inning home-run. Meanwhile, Riley Campbell stole his 28 base of the season, putting him ten back of the franchise single season mark.

Swift Current will now have the day off on Thursday before hosting the Regina Red Sox for the first time this season on Friday.

The Red Sox and 57's will enter Friday's game tied for first in the WMBL's East Division with identical 26-12 records.
