The Swift Current 57s bounced back from a one-run loss to the Moose Jaw Miller Express on Wednesday with a one-run win over the Yorkton Cardinals last night.

The 57s capitalized on an error-filled game by the Cardinals, coming away with a 5-4 victory.

The win was Swift's second of the season (2-5), after the winless Cardinals (0-5) racked up an astounding seven errors in the game.

Swift's steady pitching guided them to the victory, after starter Carter Buuck went five strong innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and striking out four batters.

Reliever Nick Hooper picked up the win, meanwhile, tossing 2-1/3 innings of no-hit, no-run ball. The same went for Mitch Guiberson, who punched out two Cardinals batters during his scoreless ninth inning.

It was most likely a frustrating day on the mound for the opposing pitchers, as both starter Owen Steele and reliever Andrew Cisneros accounted for all nine innings, failing to give up a single earned run for the Cardinals.

Steele lasted five innings, allowing four hits, and four unearned runs, while Cisneros worked the final four innings, allowing an unearned run to score. The pair combined for 12 strikeouts.

Just two RBI were earned by the 57s in their nine-hit game. Anthony Stewart drove in Dauson Tate with a single in the third inning, and Tyler Wojciechowski hit a single in the seventh to score Ethan Hunter.

Wojciechowski's seventh-inning single proved to be the winning run for Swift Current - a fitting end to his two-hit day, the lone multi-hit effort for the 57s.

The two teams play the finale of the brief two-game set tonight. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. as the 57s look for another win, and the Cardinals attempt to break their winless start to 2018.
