Despite windy conditions throughout the day on Wednesday, southwest athletes still managed to put on record-breaking performances at the Swift Current Comp. as they competed in Districts.

Most notably of those performances, was Swift Current's Kalea Sauder.

Sauder broke a pair of SWAC records, setting a new time in both the Junior Girls 80m Hurdles and the Junior Girls 100m Dash.

In the 80m Hurdles, Sauder broke the previous record by over half a second, finishing the race with a time of 12.05s, well ahead of the previous record of 12.62s.

Her run in the 100m Dash did not set the record by as wide of a margin, but did still manage to set it.

Sauder beat the previous time of 12.90s by finishing with a time of 12.80s.

The SWAC District Track and Field Meet also saw the Junior Boys 100m Dash record fall.

Maple Creek's Michael Mudingayi clocked in with a time of 11.42s, just ahead of the previous time of 11.46s.

In Midget Boys Triple Jump, Swift Current's Scott Joseph jumped a distance of 12.36m to beat the previous record of 12.15m.

The Midget Girls Shot Put record of 9.87 meters is also no more.

Tilynn Petersen of Hodgeville threw well past the previous distance, with a throw of 10.48m.

Bryden Tremere of Shaunavon is the new record holder in Bantam Girls Triple Jump, jumping a distance of 9.30m.

The prior record was 8.88m.

Rounding out the record breaking efforts, Myra Halderman of Frontier set a new record in Bantam Girls Shot Put.

Her throw of 9.19m took done the previous record of 9.03m.

The SHSAA Provincial Track and Field Championships will be held June 2-3 in Saskatoon.
