The Swift Current 'AA' Pee Wee Indians are in Weyburn today, beginning the 2015 Baseball Sask. Provincial Championship.

The team began the 9 team provincial tournament with a 23-0 victory over White Butte.

The strong offensive output is a good sign for the Tribe, as Head Coach Derek Murdoch says offence will be a key factor in making a deep run.

"The thing that is probably going to make or break us is going to be consistently getting guys on base. We've been up and down, we've beat all the teams in the province but when we haven't been going, it's because we haven't got guys on base. If we are consistently getting guys on the base paths we are pretty good at moving them around so that is going to be what it comes down to. I think defensively and pitching wise we are just as good as anybody." he said.

Murdoch also said, this team can win in a variety of ways, whether it's with the home run, or by playing small ball.

"We've done that (small ball) throughout the season. We're not afraid to get guys moving and putting the ball down, we've got some guys that are really good at bunting and we've got some guys who can run, but we have a team that can hit the ball to. We've got some guys with some homeruns. We just have to be aggressive at the plate, and we'll be alright". he added.

Swift Current will be back on the diamond at 3:30pm today against Lloydminster.

Also getting their provincial run started today, is the Bantam 'AA' Indians in Yorkton.

The Bantam team will play their first game at 1:00pm against the host team, before playing 2 more pool games tomorrow.
