A tough start for the three Swift Current curling teams competing at the Senior Men's South Provincial Qualifier Thursday in Shaunavon.

Clayton Wicks, Max Kirkpatrick and Rod Quintin all dropped their opening match-up's.

Taking on Shaunavon's Grant Selvig, Wicks surrendered a late steal of two en route to an 8-4 opening loss.

Selvig then continued to roll through Swift Current clubs with a 7-6 victory over Kirkpatrick.

After Kirkpatrick tied the game with a deuce in the 8th, Selvig scored his single point in the extra-end to secure the win.

Unfortunately for the Swift Current teams, they finished the day 0-3 as Rod Quintin also suffered a loss in his first game.

Going up against Moosomin's Daryl Williamson, Quintin dropped a 7-6 decision.

All three Swift Current rinks will be back on the ice Friday afternoon.

Wicks will take on Quintin in an all Swift match-up, while Kirkpatrick is still awaiting his second opponent.
