The Swift Current Comp Colts are set to do battle under the lights at Colts Field in the sixth edition of Thursday Night Lights tonight.

A Moose Jaw-based weather system is moving into Swift Current for the second-straight week to start the 2019 season.

The Colts fell 35-30 at home to the Central Collegiate Cyclones in Week 1. Now, with a quick turnaround from Saturday to today, Swift Current welcomes the AE Peacock Tornadoes (1-0) to the southwest.

"We've tweaked some things, but we're not going to get away from what we're good at," said Colts head coach Derek Murdoch. "We think we can do some things a little cleaner than last week. We did some things really well against Central offensively. Cleaning up the turnovers is obviously the big thing."

Swift Current would be happy to have a repeat performance of the 2018 edition of the night-time spectacle, as stout defence led them to a 28-1 win over the Moose Jaw Vanier Vikings.

The TNL showcase is far from an atmosphere that players need to be convinced to get hyped up for, as roughly 1000 students, parents, and members from the community will pack the west side of the field.

"Once things are lit up, it's just different," said Murdoch. "One of the messages we have before we get going is 'The lights are on the field. They're on you - they're not around on the people on the crowd, they're on you'. That's what we've got to focus on. The guys will be excited, hopefully we have a good night and give all those people lots to cheer about."

A win, and getting back to .500, is of course of the utmost importance, though the Colts' head coach still wants his team to be able to appreciate the experience.

"At the end of the day, it's a really cool experience for a high school sport. These are student athletes who are working hard. They just started school and they're trying to wrap their head around things. It's exciting to, after school's done, get ready to go. When we come out, there'll be lots of people making noise. It's fun, and that's what we want this experience to be for the kids."

Kickoff between the Colts and Tornadoes is slated for 7 p.m., and you can catch all the action live on The Eagle 94.1. The Local Sports Live broadcast gets underway with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
