The Swift Current Indians pulled off another late inning victory Sunday night.

Despite giving up a 3-0 lead, Danny Clifford scored the go-ahead run in the bottom if the 8th and the Indians topped Weyburn 4-3.

It's getting to be old hat for an Indians squad that thrives in pressure situations.

"On the road it kind of is different but at home we have the will to win," Gonzalez said. "We don't want to lose in front of our home fans. We battle and we battle." Full Interview with Jake Gonzalez

"We actually got up in that game which is a different story than usual. They came back late and we had to battle back once again and we just got the job done."

It's a sense of belief that has grown for the Indians as they come up big in those late situations time and time again.

"You've just got to have quiet confidence upon your abilities and your teammates abilities," said Coach Joe Carnahan. "You get our four hole hitter (Matt Henriksen) in there and he had a sacrifice bunt and that ended up leading to the game winning run. That's just a selfless play right there. Things like that add up." Full Interview with Joe Carnahan

Anthony Armanino was terrific in his second start as an Indian. He allowed no runs on 2 hits and striking out 9 batters over 7 innings of work.

"He was as good as it gets today," Carnahan said. "All three pitches for strikes any time, any place. That was pretty impressive."

Armanino has only allowed 1 run and 4 hits in 12 innings of work so far this season.

"I took two weeks off after the (college) season so my first start was a little rusty," Armanino said. "It's a whole new ball with less seems on it. The big adjustment was throwing my curve ball because it didn't have that much spin. I'm starting to get the hang of it and throwing it for strikes. Everything feels good right now." The Indians managed only 5 hits in the game and Gonzalez had 2 of them at big times. He tripled home Henriksen in the 4th and hit a solo home run in the 6th.

"I had a couple days off to just kind of relax and stop thinking," Gonzalez said. "I came out in (batting practice) and kind of said relax, see the ball and hit the ball. I took it into the game like I wanted to and just ran into a few."

He's enjoying the role as late inning reliever as well.

"If that's my role I'll gladly take it," Gonzalez said. "I want to be on the mound when it's winning time."

Gonzalez came in as Weyburn tied the game in the to of the 8th, but struck out 4 while not allowing a run in 2 innings of work. He moved his earned run average to 0.52 on the season.
