It's the second-most played sport in the world, and it's catching on at the Comp High School.

It's the second year of the Ardens rugby program, as the new season began with a tournament in Brandon on the weekend.

Led by Head Coach Chris Chapman, the program is gaining momentum among girls in grades 9 to 12.  "The introduction of a contact sport for young ladies in the community has been a big hit... literally a big hit.  The contact has brought so much to them.  The rugby piece is so much more than just the sport; it's about a community; it's about camaraderie, and these girls have bought into it 100%," commented Chapman.

The team is made up of about 30 players this year.  They opened the season going 3-1 at a tournament in Brandon.

This weekend, they host Lethbridge Winston Churchill in a pair of games.  Starting next month, they will play in a Regina-based league.
