After a heartbreaking loss last year in the finals, the Atom AA Broncos were able to get redemption when they won the league championship over the weekend.

The Atom Broncos swept the league final against the Moose Jaw Warriors with 4-2 and 6-3 wins.

Kent Woods, head coach of the Atom AA Broncos, said that it was good to watch the returning players succeed this season with the league title.

"We had six guys come back from last year's team that lost in the final, and for them, it was a little bit of redemption to be able to play in the final and get a league championship," he said. "Between Ryder Woods, Derric Dulatre, Parker Rondeau, Brady Simpson, Aidan Robinson, and Aston Annesley, those guys definitely led the way coming back from last year's loss to this year being able to propel us to the league championship."

Woods said that due to the good play of the returning players and the rest of the team they were able to beat a challenging Moose Jaw team.

"It was a tight battle," he said. "Moose Jaw has a really tough team and every game we had played them this year it was a one or a two-goal game, so the series could have went either way, but our guys came out and played some of their best hockey and were able to come away with a championship."

Woods added that when it came down to gut-check time, the team played hard and was able to win and sweep the series.

Looking forward to the future, the Broncos could have six returning players from the championship team including three forwards, two defensemen, and a goaltender.

Woods believes the team is set up okay for next year as they have a good nucleus to have another successful season.

"I think the team should definitely be one of the better teams in the league again with the kids we have returning," he said. "We have a good group of strong first years to come back and hopefully lead the team back to the championship."

The six returning players that could be back for next season are Griffin Darby, Hayden Winslow, Levi Wills, Jackson Tuplin, Daxer Schroeder, and Tate Leshures.
