Shaunavon Badgers

It's been quite a year for the Shaunavon Senior Badgers

They moved into the new Crescent Point Wickenheiser Centre and have reached both provincial and White Mud league finals.

Coach Jason Girodat said their provincial team has a lot of firepower including the Hunter Brothers and Andy Schneider.

“We have pretty much three lines of offence that we can throw at people and they're not just regular offensive type players they're guys that have played professional and junior hockey. I think that had a lot to do with it. I think...we have a pretty good group of guys that really care to show up on a regular basis, they're in shape and it just means a lot to them.”

The Badgers had a pretty smooth ride to their fourth straight B provincial final including a sweep of the Esterhazy Flyers in the semis.

Coach Jason Girodat adds they can't let provincials distract them.

“Winning the White Mud League is still an exciting and important thing for our town, guys take it pretty serious.”

The Badgers are 4-0 against Leader this season but Girodat isn't taking anything for granted.

“They're got a pretty good team if all their guys show up, they've got a goaltender we've had trouble with this year and that little rink up there in Leader always gives us fits.”

Meanwhile, after three consecutive losses in the provincial final, the high powered Badgers are hoping to avoid pulling a "Buffalo Bills" when they play Drake in a best of three series.

No dates have been set yet.
