For the first time since November 2nd, Swift Current Broncos prospect Logan Barlage took to the Credit Union iPlex ice over the weekend.

The fourth overall pick in the 2016 bantam draft, was in town as his Prince Albert Mintos battled the Home Hardware Legionnaires.

Playing his first season in the Saskatchewan Midget 'AAA' Hockey League, Barlage currently leads the league in goals with 29 and is second in points with 59.

He says those numbers wouldn't be possible without everyone around him.

"There has been a lot of help from my teammates and the coaching, which has helped me develop in this league," he said.

"I am starting to understand the game more but I'm just trying to continue to keep on developing myself for upcoming years, maybe in Swift Current, which would be really fun next year, that's for sure."

Even with the strong offensive numbers, the Humboldt product adds he is focusing on become an even better all-around player.

"I think learning the defensive zone a little bit more and being a full centerman and really making sure that I bury down when I get my chances since you don't get nearly as many in Midget as you do in Bantam," he said.

"Developing your all-around skills is what will make you become a better hockey player."

The 6'3 forward did not disappoint the local crowd putting up three goals and two assists in the two games.

Following Saturday's game, Barlage spoke about the differences in style as he continues his first full season in Midget 'AAA'.

"I think it is just always getting faster and faster, and everyone is getting better," he said.

"You just have to keep developing your skills in all areas of the ice. Being a well-rounded player is what makes you the top player in that league (SMAAAHL)."

Following two straight victories for Barlage's Mintos over the Legionnaires on Friday and Saturday, the recently turned 16-year old got the opportunity to suit up with the Broncos on Sunday in a 3-2 loss to the Prince Albert Raiders.

Although held off the scoresheet in just his second career WHL game, Barlage says he is very excited about the franchise that drafted him.

"I'm really happy with Swift Current," he said.

"I love the coaching staff, the hockey players and the dressing room is lots of fun. I just love it in Swift, it's fun to come back here and play a little bit. It's a good atmosphere, that's for sure."
