Swift Current's Luke Barry wrapped up his Prairie Baseball Academy stint on a high.

He helped lead them to the Canadian College Baseball Conference national championship last weekend.

"It was a storybook ending to end it on a double play and it's been an awesome two years out at prarie baseball academy. It was awesome to do it for the boys and to be able to end off the season on that high note."

Barry says they were all thinking about teammates Tanner Craswell and Mitch MacLean, who were killed in a murder-suicide in December.

He adds the season was difficult for him as he battled two injuries and was forced to DH.

"It started off slow but progressively after working with coaches and just trying to keep that mental preparation and work on some things, it was awesome. Finally, towards the end, it came together for that last tournament."

Barry still managed to make the first all star team.

He'll suit up for the WMBL Indians again this summer.
