Playing their first game in four days, the Swift Current Indians were unable to get back in the win column last night at Mitchell Field.

The Tribe dropped a 6-1 decision to the defending Western Division champions, the Lethbridge Bulls.

Playing in front of 582 fans on Minor Ball night, Swift Current fell behind early. The Bulls scored 1 run in the 1st inning, followed by 3 more runs in the 2nd, giving Lethbridge an early 4-0 lead.

All throughout last night's game, the Tribe were unable to get much going offensively, with their only real threat coming in the bottom of the 4th.

Jose Rojas led off the inning with a single to centre field, Nate Ackerman followed that with a walk, putting runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out.  then Kevin Czarnecki advanced the runners to 2nd and 3rd with a sacrifice groundout. However, Reid Fritzke was retired on a groundout to the pitcher, before Kevin Bettencourt grounded out to 3rd base, bringing the inning to an end.

Lethbridge would go on to score 2 more runs, 1 in the top of the 5th inning, and 1 in the top of the 8th, before Swift Current would get on the board.

Trailing 6-0 in the bottom of the 8th, Rojas hit a 2-out double to right field. Two pitches later, Rojas stole 3rd base, and 4 pitches after that, he came in to score on a passed ball.

Indians' Starting Pitcher Darren Kolk took the loss on the mound. Kolk gave up 5 runs, 3 of them earned, over 4 2/3 innings of work, on 2 hits and 7 walks.

Swift Current will now turn their attention to the Yorkton Cardinals. The Tribe will be in Yorkton tonight, before heading back to Mitchell Field for 2 games this weekend against the Okotoks Dawgs.
