Dreams do come true at the NHL Draft.

Every young hockey player plays out this day in their head, and now those fantasies have become reality for two Swift Current Broncos.

The New Jersey Devils selected forward Graham Black in the 5th round of today's NHL draft, while the Calgary Flames nabbed forward Coda Gordon in the 6th round.

"I'm kind of at a loss for words, it's the most exciting thing that has happened to me in my life," Black emotionally told us in an interview with our newsroom this morning. "I'm surprised and... this is such a cool experience and a wonderful opportunity, and words can't explain how happy I am."

Black, a Regina native, had 50 points in 71 games in his rookie season as an 18-year-old with the Broncos. He is the second Bronco taken recently by New Jersey as they selected Reece Scarlett last season.

Gordon put up 53 points in 66 games. It is likely extra special for him as the Cochrane, Alberta native was picked by what is essentially his hometown NHL team.

"It's definitely been exciting," said Gordon. "Especially growing up watching them and them being my favourite team all my childhood. I never thought it was possible but I've always dreamed about it. To finally realize that some of my dreams are coming true is a great feeling."

Black and Gordon bring the number of drafted players on the Broncos roster to five.

"It's another step in the right direction," said Broncos Coach/GM Mark Lamb. "I'm just really happy for both of them. They're a big part of our future."
