Connor Ingram made 33 saves as the Kamloops Blazers shut the Swift Current Broncos out 3-0 on Saturday night.

It was a scoreless game through the first 36 minutes before Kamloops broke through twice at the end of the second period and completed the victory with an empty net goal.

"We had spurts," said Broncos assistant coach Jamie Heward. "We had a lot of chances early and we didn't get anything out of it and it just kind of set us on our heals as far as putting too much pressure on scoring a goal. Once you do that you squeeze your stick a little bit tighter and you just don't make the plays you're supposed to."

Jake Kryski scored twice for the Blazers in securing their fifth win on a six game East Division road swing.

The opening goal came at 16:12 of the second on a dump in that bounced out front. Kryski won a race to the puck and got just a piece of the puck for a floating puck that went over Landon Bow's shoulder.

Ryan Rehill then made it 2-0 on a hard one-timer with traffic in the final minute of the period.

"We're working hard, we're still doing a lot of good things but we're just finding ways to give up points and lose games," Heward said. "I'd like to say that it's something different every night but it comes down to a lot of the same things."

The Broncos fired 65 shots on goal over their two losses this weekend and only managed one goal. They've played a solid defensive game and just haven't been able to find much offence.

"We're happy with the way we're playing defensively but we're still making that crucial mistake at the wrong time that's costing us a goal," Heward said. "When you're not scoring goals it makes it so much tougher to come back in games. It's been an accumulation of a lot of bad stuff for us. I give the guys credit they're working through, they're working hard... we're just not getting any breaks."

Bow made 28 saves including a few spectacular stops with Kamloops up 2-0 to keep his team in the game. Both goaltenders have been playing well as of late to give their team a chance.

"It's a good problem to have for us right now because we can rotate our goalies and they're both playing well," Heward said. "Hopefully these guys can continue to be our backbone and play well... and the team can find a way to rally around those guys."

The Broncos now get an eight day Christmas break to rest battered bodies and refresh their mentality 14 of their last 16 games while battling a significant injury bug.

"It means a lot," said Broncos Coach/GM Mark Lamb. "For a lot of young kids who haven't been away from home they're missing their family and really looking forward to getting back home. From a hockey standpoint it's really good to get away. get a release because it has been a battle with injuries and the losing streak mentally it's wearing."

Lamb doesn't expect a holiday break will lead to any break in conversation with other general managers around the league.

"I probably won't be off the phone much," he noted.

The Broncos are back in action on December 27th when they host Moose Jaw at 4pm. The WHL Trade Deadline is January 10th.
