A former Swift Current Bronco from the mid-90s is now the top dog behind the Columbus Blue Jackets bench.

Earlier today it was announced by the NHL club they've promoted assistant coach Brad Larsen to the vacant head coaching role.

The 43-year-old had served as an assistant coach with Columbus the past seven seasons under the tutelage of Todd Richards and more recently John Tortorella.

Larsen was given a three-year contract by the Blue Jackets and they'll unveil him to the media tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.

The Nakusp, British Columbia, product spent his entire WHL career with Swift Current from 1993-1997 suiting up in 238 regular-season games while compiling 105 goals and 144 assists.
