Tomorrow night marks 'Bronco Strong' night at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex, as the Swift Current Broncos are set to welcome the Lethbridge Hurricanes to town.

'Bronco Strong' night was born in support of the Humboldt Broncos, as now both teams have been affected by a bus crash that claimed lives from their organizations - 1986 for Swift Current, and this past April for Humboldt.

Swift Current will also be sporting special threads, after former Swift Current Bronco Taylor Vause designed an intricate masterpiece of a uniform for the night's events.

Vause, a former captain who played four seasons with the Broncos (2008-12), spoke on the work put in to take these jerseys from a concept to a reality:

As seen in Vause's unveiling of the jersey, the latin motto "Celer et Audax", translated to "Swift and Bold", seems as fitting of a phrase as possible for the theme and events linked to the jersey.

Though as fitting as it is, the phrase came to be discovered unintentionally, according to the former Broncos forward.

With both the communities having experience the heartbreak of losing members of their respective junior hockey franchises, Vause said getting to help create a jersey that bridges Humboldt and Swift Current together is an act he deemed essential, as well as one he is fortunate to be a part of.

This is now Vause's eighth jersey designed for the Broncos. The graphic designer, under the company Full Stride Designs, has most recently had his hand in the making of the Broncos' 2017 Remembrance Day jerseys.

Before that, Vause designed the Broncos Heritage jersey (50 years of Broncos - 2017), the Swift Current Broncos 30th anniversary jersey (2015), the 2014 Christmas/Teddy Bear Toss jersey, the 2014 City of Swift Current Centennial jersey, the 2012 Four Broncos Memorial jersey, and the 2011 Breast Cancer Awareness jersey.

With previous proceeds from jersey sales/auctions commonly donated to Breast Cancer research or the Broncos education fund, this time around a new, fitting recipient will be honoured.

Swift Current's 'Bronco Strong' jerseys are currently up for auction until Friday's game concludes, with the entire sum of sales set to be donated to STARS Air Ambulance.

Meanwhile, it looks to be a bit of a touching event for Broncos Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Dean Brockman, who was a coach and general manager in Humboldt for nearly two decades.

"It's an honour to be a part of it. Certainly that's two huge tragedies within two communities," Brockman said. "You want to do good things out of a tragedy, and this is one of them. I think it's very special - the jerseys are fantastic, and certainly looking forward to the night."

While Swift Current will wear these special edition jerseys for just this one night, the Humboldt Broncos have implemented Vause's design as their official third jersey for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.
