The Swift Current Broncos were dealt a bit of a blow yesterday as one of their first-round picks committed to a Division 1 NCAA hockey program.

Tyson Jugnauth, the Broncos second selection of the 1st round in 2019, 21st overall, announced his commitment to the University of Wisconsin for the 2022-23 season.

"I would like to that (thank) my friends, family, and coaches that have helped me along the way," he said on Twitter. "I am excited to be a part of such a great organization."

The 16-year-old blueliner suited up for a pair of teams last year, mainly the Okanagan Rockets U18 AAA team appearing in 34 games while scoring five goals and recording 23 assists.

The Toronto product also dressed in five games (three in the regular season and two in the playoff) for the West Kelowna Warriors in the BCHL, a Junior A league in British Columbia, but failed to record a point.

The Broncos have signed their other first-round pick from the 2019 WHL Draft Mathew Ward. Two of their 3rd round picks from the same draft have also signed with the club as well, Reid Dyck and Joshua Davies.
