For the second time in two nights, the Swift Current Broncos got late third period goals, this
time leading to a 5-3 win over the visiting Vancouver Giants.
Vancouver opened the
scoring midway through the first period. In the
second period, Joel Rogers tied the game with his first goal of the
season on the power-play. In the
third period, the Giants took a one goal lead, but Kyle Verdino
replied with his first WHL goal.
Swift Current quickly went ahead
as Brad Hoban notched his 15th goal of the year, snapping his 17-game
scoreless streak. Vancouver answered, but the winner came with five minutes left, off the stick of Jordan Peddle. Cody Eakin got his 43rd goal of the year into an empty
net to secure the win for the Broncos.
Morgan Clark was strong in net for the Broncos,
turning aside 37 of Vancouver's 40 shots. Swift Current was 1-9 on the
power-play, while Vancouver was 0-6.
The Broncos move to 33-29-0-4 on
the year.
They wrap up a 5-game homestand on Tuesday as the Regina
Pats visit the Credit Union iplex for the second time in five days.
