It was closer than expected as the Moose Jaw Warriors battled hard to try and end a nine-game losing skid.

It was the Broncos' Michael Stickland deflecting home the winning goal with only 1:15 to play in the third period as the Broncos added an empty netter for a 5-3 win.

The Broncos either trailed or were tied all game until Stickland's goal as the Broncos avoided losing to the Eastern Conference's last place team.

Matt Tassone, Jan Dalecky, and Eric Doyle all scored, while Justin Dowling sealed it with the empty net goal in the final minute.

Travis Yonkman made 23 saves for the win.  It's the first time the Broncos have won back-to-back games in the month of January.

The Broncos begin a home-and-home series with Prince Albert on Friday night in P.A.
