New Swift Current Broncos head coach and director of player personnel Dean Brockman made the first acquisition of his tenure earlier today.
The Broncos' new head of player development dealt a 2021 eighth-round bantam draft pick to the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for forward Colum McGauley.
The 18-year-old McGauley hails from Wilcox, with ties to Nelson, BC as well, and played his first WHL season in the Okanagan this past year.
McGauley scored twice in 47 regular-season contests with the Rockets, adding 14 penalty minutes and a -2 rating.
The 5-foot-11, 174-pound left-handed forward played Bantam AA for the Balgonie Prairie Storm and Midget AAA with the Notre Dame Hounds.
A 72-point season with Balgonie in his draft-eligible season led to McGauley being selected in the fourth round (75th) by the Spokane Chiefs in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.
The acquisition provides the Broncos with a splash of depth in the forward pool on the roster.
