Swift Current Broncos General Manager and Head Coach, Mark Lamb, has announced that the club has acquired 1994-born defenceman, Stephen  Shmoorkoff, from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for 1996-born prospect goaltender, Alec Dillon, and a conditional 4th round pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.

Shmoorkoff, the 6’, 197-pound product of Edmonton, AB has recorded 26 penalty minutes in 16 games played with the Oil Kings this season. 

He (Shmoorkoff) is a veteran defenceman with experience in a winning organization,” says Head Coach & General Manager, Mark LambHe is a very physical player and will bring his physicality and wealth of experience to our young defensive group moving forward.”

Dillon, the 6’6”, 170-pound product of Victoria, BC was selected by the Broncos in the 5th round, 104th overall, of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.  In 13 games played with the Victoria Grizzlies of the BCHL this season, he has posted a 2.49 GAA and .917 save percentage.

Shmoorkoff is expected to join the Broncos lineup for Friday night’s game versus the Calgary Hitmen.

The Broncos also have re-assigned forward Brandon Arnold to the Tisdale Trojans of the SMAAAHL.
