Several Swift Current Broncos alumni are ready for hockey's biggest stage in the NHL playoffs.

Dale Weise and the Montreal Canadiens face Zack Smith and the Ottawa Senators in the lone battle of former Broncos. Smith and Weise played together with Swift Current from 2005 to 2008.

Weise hit career highs in all categories and won Montreal's unsung hero award, while Smith had an injury plagued season that saw him only suit up for 37 games. The Maple Creek product was able to make it back into the lineup in time for Ottawa's historic comeback from fourteen points out of a playoff spot.

Former Broncos captain Adam Lowry will get his first taste of NHL playoff action this spring as his Winnipeg Jets face the Anaheim Ducks. Lowry played 80 games as an NHL rookie with 11 goals and 12 assists for the Jets. He helped St. John's to a Calder Cup final last season.

The only Broncos alumnus in this season's playoffs with a Stanley Cup ring is Michal Rozsival of the Chicago Blackhawks. He and the Hawks start their quest for another championship with a series against the Nashville Predators.

Former Broncos captain Cody Eakin won't get an opportunity at playoff action as his Dalllas Stars missed the playoffs, but Eakin will suit up for Canada at the World Hockey Championship.
