In the midst of a three-game losing streak, the Swift Current Broncos are looking to use an important home-and-home this weekend to get back in fine form.

The Broncos have lost Brandon, Moose Jaw, and Saskatoon during the streak dating back to last weekend, and now are into their last pair of games remaining in the 2017-18 regular season.

Swift Current is in the provincial capital tonight for Game 1 of that home-and-home with the Regina Pats.

"That's our last chance to kind of tune up before the playoffs. Once the playoffs start, things happen quickly, there's no time between games and there's no second chances, so this weekend is important to us to find our game," said Broncos associate coach Ryan Smith, who noted that the longevity behind having a record of 47-17-4-2 means there's no reason to panic during this streak.

"I mean we're talking about a 100-point team as well, so it's not a team that isn't capable of winning or hasn't won in the past. It just seems the last couple weeks we've kind of let our game slide - you don't just lose that all of a sudden, not at this level. We just need to find it and grab it."

The Broncos and Pats have squared off four times this season, with Swift Current claiming regulation wins in all contests (4-1, 3-1, 4-2, 5-3).

However, this Pats team is surging at the right time, coming into tonight with a 9-1-0-0 record in their past 10 games, while the Broncos have a 5-4-0-1 record in that same time frame.

While the Broncos look to tune up their game and jump back into the win column, there's also a good chance they could be facing this Regina squad in the opening round of the playoffs in a battle of 2-vs-3 in the Eastern Division.

"It'll be a good test I think. It'll be a good showing of what both teams can do," said Broncos forward Matteo Gennaro. "We're going to be playing our hardest to win those games and finding out guys' tendencies. It'll be a pretty good introduction to playoffs."
