Tyler Steenbergen's goal at 14:25 of the third period lifted the Swift Current Broncos over the Kootenay Ice tonight.

The Broncos were down 2-1 entering the third and got goals Jamal Watson, Steenbergen and an insurance goal by Glenn Gawdin to earn a 4-2 win.

It was Swift Current's first win when trailing after the second period this season.

Dom Schmiemann, Gawdin, Watson, Artyom Minulin and Lane Pederson all had two point nights for the Broncos.

Schmiemann scored his first WHL goal in the second period when his dump in banked off the stantion connecting the glass and took a friend hop into the Kootenay goal.

The 16-year-old defenceman was named first star for a solid effort in all three zones that helped the Broncos overcome a shortness on D.

Kade Jensen missd the game due to a one game suspension as the Broncos are still without Max Lajoie due to illness.

Swift Current played the game with only five defencemen and still limited Kootenay to 26 shots.

Taz Burman made 24 saves in the win and Wyatt Hofflin stopped 40 to keep the Ice in the game.

The Broncos remain eight points back of Edmonton for the final playoff spot in the WHL Eastern Confernece after the Oil Kings beat Moose Jaw 3-2.
