The Swift Current Broncos attempt to continue a strong start on the road as they visit Brandon tonight.

Swift Current opened the season with wins in Saskatoon and Regina.

Now they face a Wheat Kings club that is usually very solid in their own building.

"It'll be a tough battle in Brandon," said Broncos associate coach Ryan Smith. "They're always hard to play at and another division rival on the road. We'll be ready for that game."


Swift Current went 4-1-0-3 against Brandon last season getting at least a point in 7 of the 8 games.

The Wheat Kings are coming off a 5-4 shootout loss agaisnt Red Deer last night. They're 1-1-0-1 on the season after splitting their first two games with Regina.

They feature former Broncos defenceman Kade Jensen.

Tye Lewis (2-6-8), Stelio Mattheos (4-2-6) and Tanner Kaspick (3-2-5) are off to hot starts for Brandon in their first three games.

The Broncos will send out a top line that has been dominant in their first two games. Glenn Gawdin (4-2-6), Tyler Steenbergen (2-4-6) and Aleksi Heponiemi (0-4-4) have been the biggest difference makers in both Swift Current wins to start the season.

There are five players on the Swift Current roster from Manitoba who will likely have family and friends in attendance playing in Brandon. Riley Stotts, Owen Blocker, Noah King, Matthew Stanley and Joel Hofer all grew up not far from the home of the Wheat Kings.

Swift Current then visits Saskatoon on Friday and finally plays their home opener next Saturday against Kootenay.

The Broncos recently extended their season ticket promotion with more than 1600 tickets sold for this season. If they reach 1700 by October 6th one fan will win their season ticket for life.
