What a ten-game stretch it's been for Swift Current Broncos forward Matthew Culling.

The 2001-born rookie has ripped home seven goals during that stretch, including a five-game goal streak split across both sides of the Christmas break. Culling also has eight of his 16 points on the season over the past 10 games:

"They're going in right now, but I think it's more my linemates and teammates getting the pucks in the right areas, and just kind of being in the right place at the right time," said Culling. "Yeah, they're seeming to go in right now, so hopefully I can keep it going."

During this stretch of scoring, Culling has piled 17 shots on net - a stellar shot-percentage of 41.17%. He says the mindset hasn't changed too much, though the confidence is certainly there to keep shooting.

"It just kind of depends on the play but yeah, if the shot's there, make sure to get a good shot on net, and put it in a place where you're either going to score, or get a rebound for someone else to score," he said.

Culling's rookie season has had tremendous growth, as he's now T-21st in rookie scoring after this recent burst. His 16 points have him second in rookie scoring on the team, behind Ben King's 23.

He also sits behind three other former Sask Midget AAA Hockey League players.

Last year's SMAAAHL leading scorer Adam Beckman (Battlefords Stars) is in second place with 30 points for the Spokane Chiefs. Former Notre Dame Hounds defenceman Quinn Schmiemann is T-13th with 19 for the Kamloops Blazers. Lastly, Culling's former Regina Pat Canadian's teammate Jaydon Dureau has 17 with the Portland Winterhawks - including the game-winning-goal this past Friday over Culling's Broncos.

"Yeah it's lots of fun to play people that are my buddies that I've played with or played against in the past. It's just kind of friendly competition on the ice, and it's fun to kind of go at each other."

Culling's hot-streak started December 8 on the road against the Red Deer Rebels, with that same team in the southwest Wednesday night.

The Broncos host the Rebels tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex - catch all the action live on The Eagle 94.1 for Robertson Family Group Swift Current Broncos hockey, with pregame at 6:30.
